Latest Updates from Our Project:

End of campaign! Thank you for your support!
about 4 years ago – Thu, Apr 02, 2020 at 07:45:32 PM

It's a wrap! Thank you all so much for your support, it's been an unusual campaign for us with quite the ups and downs along the way.

Slow start, but continuously rising numbers right until the end. This was quite contrary to our past experiences, where campaigns usually got up to great momentum immediately, just to completely stop growing after three days and only picking up some speed again right at the end of the campaign. So you might imagine that we were pretty disappointed after the first day of the campaign, but now are very happy to see that it turned out so well.

Who is always very special to us are the people who haven't backed any Kickstarter before us. Thank you guys so much for your trust and support. We will do our best to live up to your expectations and hope to provide a good start for you on this platform, that you will happily look back to later on. Welcome to the family.

We are also especially happy to see so many backers returning from previous campaigns. It shows us that we are on the right way and people enjoy the things we do enough to come back for more. So thank you for being part of another campaign and we look forward to seeing your names pop up on our dashboard in the next one! You are the best!

And then of course there's all the others, people who have been at it for a while, but somehow didn't get the chance to be part of one of our campaigns, yet. In the past updates you already had the chance to read a little bit about what we've been up to the past few years and our philosophy when it comes to creating games. We welcome you in our backer community and aim to provide a good experience for you, so you hopefully become one of those familiar names we see popping up on our dashboard time after time.

So what's going to happen next? Well, first of all there is a period of 14 days in which Kickstarter tries to process all the payments connected to your pledges.

After those 14 days, which will be the 17th, we intend to immediately launch the Pledge Manager (powered by our partner BackerKit), especially for the people who are only interested in the game itself, as the games are in stock and can be shipped right away!

In those 14 days we will also prepare everything for production. First of all we have a bit of a shopping list. When the whole Corona situation started to get a foothold in Europe and other people started to stockpile flour and toilet paper, we went ahead and made sure to get some resin, some airbrush-colours and other stuff, just to make sure we could at least start the production as soon as the campaign is over. But there's still a couple of things we will need to finish the project.

At the moment we don't have a real schedule prepared. This is our first time with a project of this kind, so of course we have a rough idea of how things will go, but there's always something happening along the way that helps us moving forward or costs some extra time.

Many of you know us from one of our previous campaigns, but for all the people who are new to the Tetrahedron Games experience, here's a word about our update philosophy: There is only an update if there is something you need to know. So you can expect to hear from us as soon as the Pledge Manager is live, and after that probably when we have a solid production schedule for you. If you don't hear from us in a while, don't worry, it's just that a lot of people don't read the updates anyway, so we rather keep doing things that are useful for us and our backers.

If you are interested in the production process, seeing some work in progress pictures and videos we share along the way, maybe some community activities here and there – Facebook is your way to go.

So much for now, as usual, if there are any questions or concerns you have, feel free to leave a comment. Or if it's more of a private matter, send us a message or an e-mail – we're always happy to help.

Until the next update, stay home, stay safe, look out for yourselves and each other.

Best regards,

Martin & Mario

Final 3 Days! And some words about Eco-friendly resin and our partner OneTreePlanted
about 4 years ago – Tue, Mar 31, 2020 at 05:58:24 AM

Hi everyone,

thank you very much for your support this far, while the numbers aren't all that huge, we're still pretty satisfied with this campaign moving so smoothly with a continuous arrival of new Backers, even in the usually slower middle part of the campaign. We're well on the way to surpass 100 Backers on the campaign and considering, that this is kind of the 3rd time we are running a Dodoresque campaign, it's actually great to see that we are still able to reach people who missed out the first two times.

With just 3 days to go, we hope for a little rally towards the end, especially with the 48 hours notification going out to a lot of followers on the campaign who haven't pledged yet.

We would also like to take this chance to talk a little more about our Eco-friendly resin option that you can select in the Pledge Manager after the campaign, as the environment is an important topic for all of us, and a cause that's very dear to our heart.

We love miniatures. We always have, and probably always will. But until now pretty much every miniature is made from some sort of plastic that can neither be recycled nor degrades by itself. Plastic Miniatures have been around for a long time, but in the last few years, with new production methods and obviously 3D-printing, we see a big boom of miniatures, especially here on Kickstarter.

Of course miniatures are meant to last. None of us plans to throw them out anytime soon, but here's the thing: In difference to us humans, those plastic minis have a life expectancy of several thousand years on this planet. They will not degrade like organic materials and most of them can not even be recycled. So they either have to get burned, releasing tons of toxins and CO² into the atmosphere, or they will be around pretty much forever. And while it is kind of appealing, creating a product for eternity - it's not what we are looking for in our miniatures.

So in this campaign we offer the option to upgrade your Minis to eco-friendly biodegradable resin. The  resin is based on soybean oil and with the right treatment it degrades within months. No worries, though! This does not mean that your minis will degrade on your table, there's still stuff like water, sunlight and lots of different bacteria involved to turn this resin back into soil. As long as you treat your biodegradable minis with some care like all your regular plastic minis, they will easily last for the rest of your life as well. And as you can see from the pictures on this campaign, the bio-resin allows for the same level of detail as its industrial counterpart - All of our Dodo-Prototypes you can see in this campaign are made from eco-friendly resin!

While biodegradable resin made from soy is a great thing, there's one downside that we also took into consideration (apart from the cost). Farming soy is one of the main reasons for massive deforestation all around the globe, most of all in South America. So we became a partner of OneTreePlanted, a non-profit organization that helps reforestation efforts all around the globe, starting out in North America, but lately also very active in Australia, where their help is needed the most at the moment. Since 2014 they have planted over 6 Million trees and we want to support their cause by donating one tree for every eco-friendly upgrade we get in the Pledge Manager after the campaign has ended.

To learn more about OneTreePlanted, please check out their website https://onetreeplanted.org/ and maybe give them a hand if you can.

So much for todays update. We'll be back with another update before the campaign ends to go over everything that's going to happen over the course of the next few weeks. And of course, as usual, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to leave a comment or message us directly, we do our best to respond quickly and in all detail!

Best regards,

Martin & Mario

Well, hello there!
about 4 years ago – Thu, Mar 26, 2020 at 06:06:49 PM

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since we launched the campaign and we feel like it's time to say hi! We usually don't put out a lot of campaign-updates as long as there isn't anything important to communicate, so please don't worry if you don't hear from us for a while, we always answer your comments and messages as quick as possible.

Unsurprisingly the campaign reached it's funding goal rather quickly, taking into consideration that it was set pretty low, as this expansion comes with very low initial costs in comparison to our past projects and also doesn't have a minimal production run. We are able to manufacture the miniatures to order without wasting any time, resources or money on unneccessary extras.

In the spirit of this campaign being an expansion for an already released game, we see a lot of familiar names in our campaign-dashboard, but for everyone who's onboard a Tetrahedron Games Kickstarter for the very first time, we thought this first update would be a good chance for a quick introduction of the team behind this project. No worries, though – it's just two people, so it won't be all that long.

Tetrahedron Games was officially founded back in 2016, after our first game (idea) Valhal got rejected by all established publishers we pitched it to. So we made the decision to self-publish the game and in late 2017 we ran our first Kickstarter and Valhal went into production to be delivered in mid 2018, marking what we call the birth of Tetrahedron Games.

Of course we have been working with quite the number of freelancers in different fields and have reliable partners for boardgame manufacturing as well as logistics, but the actual Tetrahedron Games company only consists of two people: Martin and Mario

We've know each other since our childhood and have pretty much always been playing and creating games of all kinds. Whenever we got a new game we handled it like a sample box of game material with suggested rules (still do), so it was only a matter of time until we would design a whole game from start to finish, which ended up being Valhal.

Tetrahedron Games is based on the idea, that boardgames can (and should) be more than just mechanics – and that a theme should not only support the mechanics of a game, but be a part of it. Of course our big showcase of this principle is Valhal, but in Dodoresque we follow that principle as well, so every action in the game has a thematic background that creates a unique sense of immersion into the world of our Dodo characters.

Our idea of adding the colourful miniatures into the game also founds on that principle, to create a bigger connection to the characters of the game by having a 3D object to interact with while playing.

Considering that we didn't do any pre-launch advertising for this campaign and that we are launching in an economically difficult time, we didn't expect this campaign to be going through the roof. However, this far we are still quite a bit behind our expectations comparing to what we are used to from previous campaigns.

For us, this campaign is a bit of an experiment. On top of our unique approach to design games, we would also like to bring a little revolution to the miniature market by utilizing 3D-printing for mass production as well as integrating eco-friendly materials and concepts into our business.

From what we see within this campaign, this are definitely things that people care about, but sadly we are lacking the attention that we need to really get things moving. So we would be very thankful if you would take a minute to maybe check out our Facebook page, share a post or two with your friends, local club or retailer, to give our project some extra exposure.

CHECK ME OUT!

In any way, thank you all so much for your support and onwards to another week of campaigning!

Best regards,

Martin & Mario
